How to Watch The Assassination of Gianni Versace 2021

Go ahead and clear your schedule. The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Ryan Murphy’s dramatic retelling of fashion icon Gianni Versace’s tragic 1997 murder, is now available to watch on Netflix.

Just as his first season of ACS, The People v. O.J. Simpson, was about more than just a court case, Murphy uses Versace’s murder and its investigation to explore homophobia in America.

“Andrew’s journey is a journey through the politics of homosexuality as they play out across America in the 1990s,” executive producer Brad Simpson said of the season.

“It is about the events leading up to the murder of Gianni Versace,” actor Edgar Ramirez says. “But also we’re going to understand how that could’ve been avoided.”

The show first aired early last year on FX, and in the months since, it’s become something of an awards season darling, winning multiple Emmys and earning Darren Criss a Golden Globe for his performance as serial killer Andrew Cunanan. But not everyone is so thrilled with the anthology series. The Versace family issued multiple statements calling the series a “work of fiction.”
